studio
I’ve put a great deal of thought into every inch of my studio. I believe “People first. Hair second.” I’ve always intended my space to feel as if I’m welcoming guests into my home so this has guided much of my design philosophy.
Although I work by appointment only and see one client at a time, I provide a comfortable waiting area for early birds (just not too early!) or for anyone who needs to linger just a little longer.
I love to play hostess both in and out of the salon. I especially love making clients extra comfortable by offering some fun snacks and drinks. Although my selection is varied, feel free to bring your own but I keep the salon NUT-FREE as I am allergic.
I have a passion for writing and for personal enrichment. This is a special area for me filled with manuscripts and books that have helped me along the way. Clients are welcome to borrow. Ask me about the deeper meaning of these special items the next time I see you. I love to talk about soulful things!
Here is one of my most important areas where I work with clients to achieve their hair goals. You also see an extra chair—mostly for me to sit!—because connecting with my clients is my favorite part of the job.
I love when clients tell me I have one of the more comfortable shampoo chairs they’ve experienced.
It’s flattering when clients call me artistic but I see what I do as much more about science/chemistry and LISTENING. Not that there isn’t a creative component to what I do, but I feel I am much more rule-abiding when it comes to color formulation, etc. I am attracted to natural color design and I tend to suggest and deliver results that are easy to maintain and suit a client’s skin tone, eye color, lifestyle, etc. I always consider the integrity of the hair first, too, so I don’t mesh well with clients looking to make dramatic changes in one visit. I don’t embark on anything that I don’t believe in. In this case, for me, the customer isn’t always right. We have conversations about realistic expectations in which I provide honest feedback. I don’t get this at home with a husband and three children, but in the studio, my clients who follow my advice are the happiest. I will not steer you wrong! I promise!
I love sunflowers, and they are a prominent symbol for me during many of my meditations. Sunflowers remind us to lean toward what truly nourishes our soul and aligns us with our higher purpose. I act accordingly in all my client interactions. I view my time with them in my space as an opportunity to help plant “seeds” for growth. And they do the same for me. My purpose is to help nurture your full potential. Our time together is hopefully meaningful and healing.
Existing clients know how much I love talking about skincare. I provide this lovely vanity area for YOU. Feel free to have fun trying out any products specially curated for my clients. Throw on an eye mask while your color processes or use this space to freshen up after your appointment and before you head out the door to your next adventure!
I not only love to eat, but I love to offer clients a space to connect that is outside of the styling chair. Feel free to join me! This space also welcomes my own family when they visit me. Not only do they get free haircuts but some kind of meal seems to always find them.
Clients are welcome to grab their laptop and move from the styling chair to this lovely desk. I encourage clients to consider the studio as their own space while they are here. Each little nook is designed with you in mind. I do spend a great deal of time in this area, as well—writing and working on different business and personal projects. I love its vantage point which allows me to take in the whole space as I work here. I am proud of the business I have built, and I am proud to have lovely clients who see the value in the experience I try to provide for them.
Although you can certainly catch me putting my feet up, this space is for clients, as well. So feel free to relax while your color is processing.
